The Momentum Keeps Building

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:31 pm

Dear fellow Alabamians,

I am excited that my campaign for Governor continues to build momentum throughout the state.  On Thursday, January 28, 2010, I placed 2nd in the Lee County Straw Poll, behind only Bradley Byrne and ahead of Tim James and Kay Ivey, placing ahead of Tim James as well as Kay Ivey, Roy Moore and Bill Johnson demonstrates that my message of curing Alabama’s economy by “Putting Alabamians Back to Work” continues to resonate with those who hear it.  It is available here.

I am grateful for the support of all Lee County Republicans who voted for me, I will continue working hard to take my message of curing our ailing economy and protecting the lives of the unborn to all corners of Alabama as I seek to gain even more support from Alabamians across the state.

Additionally, I ask for your personal support and your vote in your local straw poll and the upcoming primary.

Continuing to Build On Our Momentum

Since last week was national signing week, I’d like to let you know that just like Coach Chizik and Coach Saban recruit and prepare in the off season for the championship, I have been busy recruiting the best people we can find to complete my campaign team.  Since the beginning of the year we have brought on a new Communications Director as well as Bob Wickers as our Media Consultant and Brent Littlefield as our Field Consultant.  Now that we are finishing our recruiting drive, it’s time to field our team for season which began on February 2nd.  I am confident that with my campaign’s combination of both outward and inward momentum, I will make a strong finish on June 2, 2010.

Pro-Life Legislative Day

Tuesday January 26, 2010, was Pro-Life Legislative Day in Montgomery.  Hundreds of Alabamians converged on the state capitol to lobby their State Senators and Representatives to vote in favor of my pro-life legislative package.  To all of you who participated, I say “Thank you for making Pro-Life Legislative Day a resounding success”

Jeanne Paxson of Focus on Life was one of the lead organizers of the event and stated, “We have a long road ahead of us on our pro-life battle, but I want to thank Rep. Bentley for stepping forward and helping get the ball rolling. Today was a great start on the pro-life front.”

Dr. Randy Brinson, Chairman of the Christian Coalition of Alabama added, “Dr Bentley’s commitment to protection and sanctity of all human life is embodied in the legislation that he has introduced. As a fellow physician, the pro-life community has no greater advocate.”

My pro-life legislative package which Alabamians lobbied for was called the most pro-life legislation in Alabama history when I unveiled it.  It includes the following elements:

1. The Human Life Recognition Act (HB 39)
2. The Health Care Rights of Conscience Act (HB 41)
3. A proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit abortion (HB 40)
4. A House Joint Resolution opposing the federal Freedom of Choice Act (HJR 12)

For more information on these bills, please read the summary on my website (here).  It is my hope that these bills will be the first steps in protecting the lives of the unborn in Alabama.
