Law Enforcement & Crime Prevention

o I will place a high priority on confronting crime in Alabama;

o I will propose budgets that increase the salaries of those on the front lines, in order to attract the most qualified individuals to join law enforcement;

o I will expand public safety officer training to include knowledge of immigration laws and conversational Spanish to reduce incentives for immigrants to come to Alabama illegally;

o Non-violent criminals, and only non-violent criminals, should be rehabilitated to prevent their return to crime when they have finished serving their sentences.

Public Safety
As Governor, I will work to place a high priority on confronting crime in Alabama. It is of utmost importance to recruit highly qualified and well trained public safety officers. Accordingly, I will propose budgets which increase the salaries of those on the front lines. This will include competitive salaries to attract the most qualified individuals into law enforcement. Additionally, I will expand public safety officer training to include knowledge of immigration laws and conversational Spanish to ensure the safety of our officers and those they encounter.

Truth in Sentencing & Faith-Based Rehabilitation
As Governor, I will ensure that criminals receive a punishment that fits the crime they committed. Unfortunately, Alabama's criminal justice system suffers from intense overcrowding. This is because the "lock them up and throw away the key" mentality does not work for individuals convicted of non-violent crimes.
